Biography & Metadata
Nervous Bride began in 2020, when the world was on pause and Austin musician and producer Bruce William Ewing had a collection of unfinished songs collecting dust. The plan was simple: finish them, release them, and bring them to life on stage. Since then, he has written, recorded, produced, and mixed every song himself, and taken the project live with a full band behind him. The early sound drew on 80s alternative bands like New Order and has since settled somewhere between dream pop and post-punk: hazy synths, chorused guitars, and a mix of electronic and live drums. The goal hasn’t changed: capture a moment exactly right. Since the debut EP in 2021, the songs have circled loss and uncertainty, though they rarely take themselves too seriously. A single called “You Did It To Yourself Again” tells you most of what you need to know. The songs look inward and split the difference between melancholy and sarcasm. As he puts it, “It’s like cracking a joke in the center of a tornado you created.” Now in his late 40s, Ewing has spent most of his music career in near obscurity, and it has never slowed him down. With new music on the way and a growing audience, Nervous Bride is just getting started. “I make music for myself,” he says. “I’m blown away when someone tells me it means something to them.” Original Nervous Bride EP Cover: Randy Skidmore.
