Biography & Metadata

SURFACE GREY is a Houston, Texas–based recording artist, producer, DJ, and songwriter known for blending Hip-Hop, R&B/Soul, Pop, Electronic, and Alternative influences into a cohesive, forward-thinking sound. Born November 22, 1998, he developed his musical foundation through Houston’s deep-rooted freestyle culture, which shaped his instinctive approach to rhythm, wordplay, and vocal delivery. After years of refining his craft, SURFACE GREY began officially releasing music in 2020, marking the moment he fully discovered his artistic identity. In 2021, he expanded his reputation as a producer with Perfected Timing, a concept-driven project exploring humanity’s relationship with time—its value, misuse, and emotional weight. He continued building momentum with his artist project Overcast, collaborating with talents including Houston’s DAVESTATEOFMIND, St. Louis artist Young Pink, and Rizz Cappolatti. Further solidifying his industry presence, SURFACE GREY collaborated with Chicago rap legend Mick Jenkins on “Magnum Opus.” Following his first tour in 2023 and followed it with an appearance on Kota The Friend’s, “No Rap on Sunday,” Tour in 2025, he continues positioning himself as a versatile and impactful voice in modern music.
