Ghost the Kid

Born in Caguas and raised in Humacao, Puerto Rico, José Rivera Cruz — better known as Ghost the Kid — is a singer, rapper, songwriter and self-made creative force shaping the future of Latin pop. A graduate in Digital Film Production and 3D Animation from Universidad del Sagrado Corazón in Santurce, Ghost writes, performs, films, and edits his own visual work, blending DIY passion with cinematic ambition. With a mission to elevate Latin pop to the global level of American and Korean pop, Ghost brings together a rich tapestry of Puerto Rican, Dominican, Caribbean, Latin American and U.S. influences, crafting what he calls “pop-urbano” — a genre-bending mix of dembow, bachata, trap, reggaetón, funk, Y2K, new jack swing, and mainstream pop. Currently working on his new project “La Referencia,” Ghost pays tribute to the artists and sounds that inspired him since childhood — channeling those influences into something entirely his own.
