Chethelyricist

Stylishly uniting mellow rhythms, dreamy soundscapes & fearlessly conscious writing, Minneapolis-born artist Chethelyricist raises the bar indefinitely for timelessly authentic, meaningful and mood-setting Hip Hop. Inspired by the likes of Drake and Earl Sweatshirt as much so as Queen Latifah and Lauryn Hill, Chethelyricist presents a fresh breath of undeniable respect and passion for Hip Hop’s entire historical landscape. In April 2021, Chethelyricist released her debut album Until Next Rhyme, elevating her reach immensely thanks to the sharp wit, quiet confidence and nostalgic simplicity of the music across ten cleverly captivating original tracks. From the laid-back and quirky references of ‘The Return’ and ‘Heat’, through the fiercely revealing and compelling vibes of ‘BLACK’, ‘Careless’, and ‘March!’ the production keeps things moving artistically, and the lyricism softly but surely reaches out with intelligence and purpose. Released more recently, her project Journey.mp3 rides high on equal realness, solidarity and depth, with a welcomed dash of melodic embrace to keep you engaged throughout. Though just two tracks in full, the EP celebrates the very best of Chethelyricist as a writer and performer of versatility and blissful poetic design. ‘Birth Of a Lyricist’ in particular extends both the personal story and uplifting musicality of this new era in a subtle yet striking way.
