Wazo Dàveed

WAZO DAVEED is an American rapper and activist from Kinshasha, Congo. His family left their native country due to a civil war and found refuge in Portland, Maine. With his mother and two sisters, Wazo was determined to push toward his dreams. Before graduating high school, Wazo created an art collective called Kesho Wazo ( translates to tomorrow’s ideas in Swahili) The purpose of this group was to allow young people all over the world to voice their opinions and to express their creativity. Kesho Wazo still is a working collective that has participated in many marches, art exhibitions and festivals. While creating interactive festivals in Portland, Maine, Wazo found his voice and started to create music of his own. Within the first year of producing his own music, Wazo was opening for Wyclef Jean with just one single out to the public.
