Biography & Metadata

Jay Taj is a Westside Santa Ana native known for storytelling-driven hip-hop grounded in lived experience and cultural pride. His style blends cinematic writing, emotional weight, and lyrical clarity — qualities that earned him national attention as runner-up on season 2 of Netflix’s Rhythm + Flow (2024). With a sharp voice shaped by his Chamorro and African-American heritage, Taj writes to uplift his community and confront real-world truths. He began his career in the early 2010s with a string of online releases before breaking through with TENFOUR (2016). Over a decade later, he reached new creative ground with LITTLE JERRY DEMOS (2024), a raw and reflective EP partly recorded during his rise on national television. That same year, his singles “Believe Me” and “Make Me” highlighted his gift for narrative and vulnerability, becoming fan favorites from the Rhythm + Flow finale. Taj was formally honored by his hometown for his transformational impact on youth and creative culture. He continues to develop work that bridges music, film, and community, using his platform to elevate voices often left unheard. For Taj, rap is not just performance — it’s legacy.
