Luiz Brasil

Luiz Brasil is an accomplished arranger, composer, guitarist and producer who has been collaborating with several giants of Popular Brazilian Music (MPB) over decades of experience. Luiz has contributed his expertise in recording, performance, and production to several albums produced by Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Gal Costa, Maria Bethânia, Moraes Moreira, Ivan Lins, Fernanda Abreu, Nando Reis, Luciano Pavarotti, Riuychi Sakamoto, Elza Soares, Zé Miguel Wisnick, and many others. Luiz arranged and produced Cássia Eller’s albums “Com você o Meu Mundo Ficaria Completo” (My World Would Be Complete With You) and “Acústico MTV Cássia Eller” (Cássia Eller’s MTV Acoustic). These two projects got a Latin Grammy in 2002 and a Multishow Prize under the musical production category. With Jussara Silveira, Luiz arranged and produced the albums “Jussara Silveira,” “Entre o Amor e o Mar” (Between Love and Sea), and “Canções de Caymmi” (Caymmi’s Songs), and also released together the “Nobreza” album, an acoustic guitar and vocals project. He also released the following albums: Brasileru (Instrumental), Beira (Instrumental), Andaluz (instrumental Flamenco/Brasileiro), As Luas de Marte (in collaboration with Manu Lafer). Luiz also produced original soundtracks for several films, including Central do Brasil, O Quatrilho, Gêmeas, A Luz de Tieta, and Ó Paí Ó. He produced and released the documentary Brasil de Todos os Ritmos.
