Doug Loch

Born into a family of church organists, for Doug Loch the dancefloor has always been the place of worship. From his formative years as a classically trained pianist and guitarist, he found his tribe at Manchester’s legendary Haçienda, shaping a sound that sits at the intersection of musical composition and dancefloor movement, reflecting his musical mantra: equal emphasis on melody and rhythm. After a distinguished 30 year career as an international finance lawyer, Doug returned to music with renewed focus in 2023. He founded People Like Us, a label and event series with a community-led focus, for dedicated music lovers seeking ongoing musicality, depth and connection. What began as a platform for his own productions has rapidly grown into a respected underground brand and community, hosting events that reflect his equal emphasis philosophy. Doug Loch operates in the outer, melodic reaches of progressive house. His musicianship provides a strong melodic core, while decades spent as a clubber and DJ ensure a solid focus on groove. That same background is now driving the development of a hybrid live set, extending his original productions beyond the DJ booth and leveraging his musical ear and improvisation skills. Doug performed at the UK's GIVE festival in 2024 and 2025, and also at ADE in 2025. He hosts a monthly People Like Us radio show on Data Transmission Radio UK.
