Biography & Metadata

ASTROPICAL is the electrifying union of two of the most exciting bands in Latin music today: Bomba Estéreo & Rawayana. What was initially planned to be a one song collaboration quickly evolved into a full project, an upcoming international tour, and a brand new supergroup. Its members are Bomba Estéreo’s Li Saumet and José Castillo on keyboards and guitars, joining forces with Rawayana’s singer Beto Montenegro as well as producer/drummer/multi-instrumentalist Andrés ‘Fofo’ Story. ASTROPICAL's debut single - the wistful, irresistible “Me Pasa” – combines both bands’ devotion to tropical music, and their smooth, sophisticated approach to rhythm and dancefloor atmospherics. Anchored on a sharp Afrobeats groove, the song shimmers to the sounds of sampled Andean flutes, an impossibly nostalgic guitar line, and the voices of Beto and Li.
