Biography & Metadata
Hristo Dunev began playing the violin at the age of five. In 2013 was awarded a full scholarship at the Whitgift School in London, UK and in 2020 graduated from the violin class of Caroline Pether at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Some notable mentions of the awards he has reserved are Second Prize at the 50th International Competition for Children-Violinists in the City of Kotsian, Czech Republic, First Prize at the Young Virtuoso International Competition, which is where he was awarded Best Performance of a Bulgarian performer, receiving a Master’s Violin made by luthier Adrian Andreev which he still performs with until today. Hristo has performed alongside violinists such as Sara Chang as the deputy leader of the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra in the concert within the frame of “Fortissimo Fest” 2011. He has had the opportunity to perform in front of the President of the Republic Bulgaria – Rosen Plevneliev, the former King of Bulgaria Simeon II, and playing as 1st chair as part of the orchestra for the headline act Stormzy at “Wireless Festival” 2018 are some of the very special moments in his career. During his violin voyage, Hristo had the opportunity to perform in Masterclasses held by Mincho Minchev, Gabriel Lipkind, Takachi Shimitsu, Midori Goto, Emil Kamilarov, Kevork Mardzhirosyan, Dina Schneidermann, Svetlin Rusev ect. He has played and arranged music that was for sold-out performances at venues such as Wembley and O2 Arena.
