Terry Lee Nichols

Terry Lee Nichols is an award-winning composer known for his cinematic fusion of classical, new age, and ambient styles. From intimate solo piano pieces to sweeping orchestral soundscapes, his music is crafted to tell stories—rich in emotion, memory, and imagination. A prodigious talent from an early age, Terry began playing by ear at four and quickly developed proficiency in multiple instruments. Drawn to the creative side of music, he pursued composition and theory at FloridaState University, later earning an MFA from CalArt sunder renowned mentors like Stephen "Lucky" Mosko and Morton Subotnick. His early work included commercial scoring, club performances, and internships in film and television music. Though classically trained and accepted into a doctoral program at Brandeis University, Terry detoured into technology, founding a successful software company before returning to his musical roots. His 2020 album The Pale Blue Dot won both the One World Music Award for Best Piano with Instrumentation and the Zone Music Reporter Award for Best Neo-ClassicalAlbum. Earlier, At Peace Beneath the Shade of My Father’s Tree earned multiple nominations, and his latest release, Love is... (2025), is garnering critical acclaim. Today, Terry continues to explore the power of music as a narrative force—creating immersive, genre-blurring compositions that resonate with listeners around the world.
