Olive Dares the Darkness

Olive Dares the Darkness is a four-piece band from Charleston SC, formed in 2014 when Olive Thompson responded to a Craigslist post by Michael Lynn looking for a collaborator. Tired of the music scene and its expectations, the two decided to experiment and write songs that reflected their creative relationship. After going through various lineup changes, the band solidified in late 2018 when Danielle Carlson joined on drums and Mr. Minister on bass. Olive Dares the Darkness creates a unique blend of new wave and industrial sounds that is heavily influenced by bands like Siouxsie and the Banshees, Nine Inch Nails, Type O Negative, and Tori Amos. The band's music is characterized by haunting melodies, driving rhythms, and introspective lyrics that explore the darker aspects of human experience. Currently, Olive Dares the Darkness is working on their second album, "III," which is set to be released in early 2027. The band is still gearing up for a tour to support their single, "Obsession," which will be available on all streaming platforms starting June 15th. The band consists of Olive Thompson on lead vocals, keys, and guitar, Mr. Minister on bass, Danielle Carlson on drums and backing vocals, and Michael Lynn on guitar, programming, and backing vocals. Olive Dares the Darkness is committed to pushing the boundaries of their sound and creating music that is authentic and thought-provoking.
