Biography & Metadata

I’m Kasen Shawn. I am, first and foremost, a fan of rap music; so, let’s get this out of the way — here’s my top five: 1. Black Thought 2. Nas 3. Lil Wayne 4. 2Pac 5. Eminem I’ll fight you on that. Secondly, I am a rapper. I started writing raps at age twelve and haven’t stopped since. As a kid, I was (and still am) heavily influenced by lyrical juggernauts from Wu-Tang Clan and Slaughterhouse. I’m deeply fascinated by wordplay and complex, multisyllabic rhyme schemes. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve became more captivated by the storytelling and poetic prowess of artists like André 3000, Common, and Wale. You’ll catch these influences as you listen through my discography. In 2015, I splashed into the local music scene with the release of Utah anthem, Project UT. Fittingly, the opening line of my first commercially released single pays homage to legends of hip hop (Kurupt, Redman, and Rakim, among others) before pledging to become the rapper that ultimately puts Utah on the map. 2020 marked the completion of my first full length project, 13 track album GOOD MOOD, which features a verse from hip hop legend KXNG Crooked. As both a DIY artist and chronic perfectionist, I have spent the last five years obsessing over production quality and honing my sound, but I’m finally back. 2026 will be the first in almost six years that I will release new music, and I’ve never been more excited about the level at which I am creating. I can’t wait for you to hear what’s next.
