Biography & Metadata
Black Mighty Wax, aka Cesare Cera, began his music career in the late 70s as a drummer and percussionist. In the 80s, he worked as a radio DJ, broadening his music knowledge. In the early 90s, with the rise of house music, he teamed up with Soundhands & Elise to form BE NOIR. Their 1991 release, “Give Me Your Love,” received positive responses from DJs worldwide. As a co-founder of Irma Records, he served as Int’l Label Manager and producer. In 1999, he produced tracks for his debut album, collaborating with musicians in The Black Mighty Orchestra. The title “To the Sky” reflects his spiritual outlook and desire for freedom. The 18 tracks showcase his diverse musical experiences, from funk to house, and his unique take on disco and jazz. His album remains one of the best-sellers from Irma. Over the past 25 years, while managing the label, he has created original tracks under names like Black Mighty Wax, DJ Moses, and others. His album “We, The Family,” released in late 2012, featured artists such as Sarah Jane Morris and Neffa. He hosts ‘Irma Nights,’ showcasing productions from the label, spanning from the early ’70s to today. Since 2018, his work for Irma Dancefloor has been relentless, dedicated to club music while preserving the signature style of Irma Records from the 90s.
