Musical sensation, NEKEITA, is a versatile independent Guyanese artist; singer-songwriter and all round performer. Her sultry style transcends boundaries and seamlessly harmonises with various genres placing her among the top names in Guyana’s entertainment industry. Born Tennicia De Freitas, she hails from a small village (Kuru- Kururu) in the countryside and has quickly become a celebrated household name and cultural ambassador, representing Guyana on many stages worldwide, including World Expo 2020 and 2025 held in Dubai and Japan respectively and CARIFESTA XV (2025) in Barbados. She is a former three times Children’s Calypso Monarch and a two times Junior Calypso Monarch with many other accolades to her name. Labelled an upcoming force in the Soca industry, she is currently a lead singer in The Heatwave Band Guyana who has also shared the stage with and performed as a background vocalist for many regional and international artists.
