Biography & Metadata

What if the worst idea you’ve ever had is the one that makes you feel most alive? On her new single “wreck of me,” out October 23, Sophie and the Giants explores a love worth risking everything for—even when the consequences could turn her whole world upside down. Caught between the promise of romance and the possibility of disaster, “wreck of me” captures the moment when desire outweighs doubt. It’s about knowing how much you stand to lose and choosing to take the leap anyway. “‘wreck of me’ is both a true romance and a tragedy,” Sophie explains. “It’s about risking everything just to feel alive. It could be the worst idea ever, but you’re ready to turn your whole world upside down.” The release marks the beginning of a new chapter for Sophie and the Giants. As the first single of this next phase, “wreck of me” sets the scene for her debut album, due in autumn 2027. Taken from her forthcoming debut album "don’t fuck the dj, “wreck of me” is the first instalment in a real-life love story that unfolds across the record. The album charts Sophie’s journey of falling in love with her DJ and touring partner, from the first spark through to their marriage. Its title comes from a voicemail left by her manager on the eve of the first tour, warning her. The message ends with the words: “don’t fuck the dj.”
