Christopher Dominique

Christopher Dominique is a half-Scottish, half-Swedish jazz pianist, composer, producer and bandleader. During more than a decade at Malmö’s renowned Tambourine Studios, he worked across a wide range of musical projects. His career includes arranging an opera for Bob Hund with the Malmö Opera Symphony Orchestra, composing for theatre and Swedish television, touring with Eggstone and performing extensively with Ola Salo. He has also worked with artists including Rebecka Törnqvist, Jakob Hellman and Philly soul legend Billy Paul. In 2023, after researching his great-grandfather, a violinist with the BBC Variety Orchestra in Glasgow, Dominique recorded Jazz in Scots and toured Scotland. This exploration of musical heritage led to Jazz ex Smolandia, in which Dominique brings forgotten music from his native Småland into contemporary jazz and improvisation. The project has now culminated in Rhapsodie Smolandique – Dr. Gustafsson’s Rhapsody, written in memory of folk musician and researcher Magnus Gustafsson. Built around 22 melodies spanning some 800 years of Småland’s musical history, the work receives its world première with Musica Vitae at Växjö Konserthus on 20 September 2026.
