Empress Truth Akins

Onelove! I'm Empress Truth Akins. Check out the official Empress Truth Akins playlist on Spotify — conscious reggae, spiritual messages, roots vibration, and songs of faith, strength, and prophecy. My story: My mom’s family originated from farm life in Cotton Plant, Arkansas, to the metroplexes of Chicago, Illinois where her single parent father served in the United States military, along with my uncles, since the Vietnam war to today. My dad’s family originated from farm life, and remains still today, in Augusta, Arkansas. My parents were farm workers up and down the West coast in 1965, ending their apple picking lifestyle in Bakersfield, California in 1967. Then, they moved to a small town 2 hours South of Chicago to be near my mother’s relatives and visiting my father’s family in the summers until his tragic suicide in 1982. Suicide is preventable! I live to inspire and give hope. My music stands for the love, courage, and inspiration. I earned my Associate’s Degree at Grossmont Community College in 2004 at the age of 30, then transferred to receive a B.S. in Criminal Justice Administration, then a Masters in Criminology, Law and Society from UCI, and a Masters of Urban Ed. at UCLA. Now Dr of Education from Grand Canyon University with certificate in Restorative Justice, Peacekeeping and Conflict Studies. I am the author of 8 Degrees of Yes: My Experiences with Truth, Transformation, and Healing available at your local retailer.
