Biography & Metadata
It is at the darker end of the trip-hop spectrum where Moss are not afraid to indulge in a melee of riff and reverb, melody and atmospherics. Loud and feral, where yaps and squeals perforate the upper atmosphere, bass lines reverberate from deep below the surface, and occasional breakbeats crackle. Where topical themes of folk origin cut through a dense sonic haar of percussion, loops and pervasive powerhouse vocals. Most recent single Opener, released in May 2026, was a lurch in a heavier goth-rock/drum and bass direction which showcases Moss’s versatility in the crucible of musical diversity. The band's debut EP released in November 2025 blended intelligent dark trip-hop with a touch of the industrial, anchoring lo-fi hip-hop beats to earthy musical phrasings. Not underground or grassroots, but topsoil with nods in all the right directions. Bee’s lush, inimitable vocal delivery has an air of Stevie Nicks about it when Moss decide to go in hard, which posits the band at the zeitgeist of the new wave of genre-fluid electronica. Veterans of their local music scene across North East England, Moss have already cracked the boards at multiple venues in Sunderland, Darlington and Newcastle as well as appearing at Last Train Home festival and Stockton Calling in their maiden year. “A blend of aesthetic beauty and raw, Northern defiance.” NARC. Mag "Dark, twisted & lush" Amazing Radio. “Unapologetically loud and confident.” NE Volume
