Chicago-born artist Ibraheem Azam, known professionally as 16RAHEEM, is a rapper and songwriter blending trap, boom bap, psychedelic soundscapes, and poetic introspection. Beginning his musical journey in 2016, he sharpened his lyricism through “16 in 16s,” a challenge introduced by his rap and poetry mentor, Chicago artist Defcee, to write 16 bars in 16 minutes. He adopted the name 16RAHEEM in December 2019 and continued evolving his sound, culminating in Purple Vision(s) in 2022. As a successor of the post-2010s Chicago Hip-Hop scene, 16RAHEEM carries forward its legacy with a modern voice. Whether it’s soulful boom bap or melodic trap, 16’s music is always anchored in meaning, proving that poetry and progression can go hand in hand. Characterized by trippy vocals, atmospheric production, relentless flows, and emotionally honest storytelling, his music moves between hustle-driven ambition and personal reflection. Through collaborations with Chicago producers Gold Haze, Ro Moore, and Zario Beatz, as well as building his label, The 4th Kind, 16RAHEEM continues shaping a distinct creative identity rooted in authenticity and the signature color purple. With nearly one million streams across platforms, physical album sales, and a sold-out headline show, 16RAHEEM is steadily building momentum. His next chapter focuses on expanding his fanbase, releasing new EPs and albums, and growing independently through merchandise, live performances, and continued creative development.
