Will Barnett & Company

Hailing from the middle-of-nowhere Iowa, alt-country and Americana singer-songwriter and farmer Will Barnett isn’t afraid to show where he comes from. Born and raised in St. Ansgar, Iowa, Barnett relocated to Nashville, Tennessee in 2014, where he lived, wrote, and performed for four years before returning home to Iowa in 2018. Back in his home state and still farming, he independently wrote nearly 100 songs over the next five years. In 2023, Barnett founded Will Barnett & Company, who proudly display their roots on their debut album, Dust. Grounded in the fields, characters, and hard-earned lessons of home, Dust is a collection of songs that doesn’t romanticize where Barnett comes from. It paints a raw and honest picture of rural life through a folk medium capturing the beauty, boredom, struggle, humor, and resilience that come with life in a rural community. Live, however, Will Barnett & Company tell a different story by crafting a distinct sound that blends classic country roots, folk, and southern rock. Drawing inspiration from modern icons like Chris Stapleton, Tyler Childers, and Sturgill Simpson, the band delivers high-energy live sets that bring together Barnett’s country roots and the influence of his years spent in Nashville.
