Biography & Metadata

Paris-born guitarist Simon Chenet takes his family’s musette roots on a musical road trip. Raised in the Paris suburbs, he grew up with guinguettes, java and Parisian swing. His aunt Minelle, queen of the accordion, and his uncles Mimile and Toctoc, two of the last Parisian Apaches, passed on their love of music. With JOKE, the garage-rock band formed with childhood friends, Simon played over 500 concerts across Europe and Africa. YAPA took him to five continents and taught him to tell stories through instrumental music. He later co-founded KOMASI, a multicultural trio with two acclaimed albums. He also collaborated with Gaël Faye, Patrice, Mélissa Laveaux, Edgar Sekloka and KPG. His solo adventure began with *Elle m'a dit* (2019), a modest experiment that travelled further than expected. *Le jour des Vermeilles* (2022), recorded live at Studio de Meudon, was his first acoustic instrumental album. In 2024, Simon arrived in Meknès, Morocco, without a guitar. His questions echoed through the medina's streets, architecture and craftsmanship. Local artisans helped him build him the MADEDINA, a unique guitar that inspired *Face au Labyrinthe* (April 2026). His fourth album, *Bulle Proxémique*, arrives in 2027. Recorded live, without a safety net, it brings six musicians together around groove and melody. From Parisian musette to Afro-Latin grooves and cinematic soundscapes, Simon keeps his guitar singing and telling stories without words.
