Barotomara

Maurizio Oliviero was born on the outskirts of Naples. From an early age, his musician father and Brazilian mother passed on to him their love for Bossanova, a genre he later found in the songs of his beloved Pino Daniele. At the age of sixteen, he got his first electric guitar with which he learned to play Pink Floyd songs. A few years later, he joined the alternative rock group The Mantra ATSMM with which he released two EPs and two albums in London, and opened about twenty concerts of Il Teatro degli orrori around Italy. After the band split up, he moved to Paris in 2015 where he discovered French singer-songwriters, developing a particular adoration for Serge Gainsbourg, Henri Salvador and Alain Souchon. French song inspired him to listen again to the great Italian singer-songwriters such as Franco Battiato, Ivano Fossati, Lucio Dalla and Lucio Battisti. After years of hiatus from music, during which he dedicated himself to studying comic book scriptwriting, Maurizio began working on a new indie pop music project under the pseudonym Barotomara.
