Biography & Metadata
Matthew Mirliani's latest album Borough 6 (a collection of songs originally composed for Marc Weidenbaum’s Disquiet Junto) has been described as his best work to date (“a beautiful ambient noise album”) and follows his inclusion on Spanish record label Drama Recorder's 16-hour project NOISE AS A FORM OF EXPRESSION, VOLUME 3. Acclaimed indie music blog Obscure Sound praised Borough 6 for its “vast landscape of ambient, atonal noise” inspired by Brian Eno and John Cage, calling elements of the album "Lynchian" and "haunting.” “Through a variety of atmospheric successes, Mirliani captures a mesmerizing unease that transforms urban mechanical textures and cinematic shadows into a grippingly immersive and soundscape-ready journey...a consistently inventive, atmospherically captivating success from Matthew Mirliani” (Mike Mineo, Obscure Sound). Matthew is a graduate of Dartmouth College, and the son of professional musician Jerry Mirliani and grandson of celebrated music professor Fred “Doc” Mirliani. He is of Dominican, Italian, and Irish descent. He grew up in the Washington, DC metro area and is currently based in New Jersey.
