REMNANT.exe is the brainchild of producer, multi-instrumentalist, and cyber mystic Cosmo Illenberger. Cosmo grew up a classically trained violinist, and developed a passion for electronic music early on, starting his production journey around age 10. He spent his formative teenage years learning production and sound design on the sidelines of the 2011-2016 “golden age” of dubstep, trap, and EDM, while continuing to play and learn classical music. In 2017, he established REMNANT.exe as an outlet for creativity unbound by genre — combining his sound-design and synth-heavy influences with higher level melodic compositions, revealing a world of unique beauty and wonder. In addition to the music, Cosmo developed a distinct visual identity for the project with his own 3D artworks and animations, establishing himself as a formidable visual artist as well. The project gained quick success and support in the underground Wave/Future Garage SoundCloud scene, eventually breaking into the wider EDM space with releases on RL Grime’s Sable Valley, Seven Lions’ Ophelia Records, Monstercat, and Pilot (UKF) — building a worldwide fanbase and garnering domestic and international touring opportunities. Now, as Cosmo refines his vision for the future of the project, he’s using his background in Wave/Future Garage and heavy bass sound design to breathe new life into the Garage/Breaks space, with the goal of utmost danceability and a glimpse into the great beyond.
