Biography & Metadata
Makamanda is an influential East African rap group made up of three artists , Kamanda Bushi, Kamanda Pedeshee, and Kamanda Brown. Born and raised on the Kenyan Coast in the streets of Junda hood, the trio emerged as part of a new wave of young musicians who use hip hop as a platform to express the realities of ghetto life with honesty and confidence. Their music reflect the struggles, ambitions, pain, hustle, and everyday experiences faced by many young people across East Africa. Known for their unapologetic style, raw lyricism, and authentic storytelling, Makamanda became a voice for the streets, representing communities that were often overlooked and unheard. Drawing inspiration from their environment and personal experiences, the group blend Swahili, Sheng, and coastal street culture into their sound, creating music that connect deeply with the youth. Their message went beyond entertainment, touching on social issues, survival, brotherhood, dreams, and the realities of growing up in disadvantaged neighborhoods. As representatives of the Kenyan Coast’s urban culture, Makamanda has help shape a generation of upcoming artists by proving that talent from the ghetto could command attention and inspire people from all walks of life.
