Biography & Metadata

Che Ecru, the Boston-born singer, writer, and producer, has built his own lane in contemporary R&B with haunting melodies, self-produced soundscapes, and unapologetically intimate songwriting. Making a bold choice, he left college in 2015 to fully immerse himself in music, a decision that paid off when he released his breakout track “2 AM” online, quickly drawing in a devoted following. His 2017 debut, Buries, introduced a raw, atmospheric sound that became his calling card. Recognition followed in 2019 when his single Before I Die was sampled in Chris Brown and Drake’s chart-topping hit “ No Guidance (feat. Drake).” The same creative imprint resurfaced in 2021, when multiple Che Ecru tracks were sampled on Baby Keem platinum album The Melodic Blue . In 2024, he contributed as a co-writer and producer on Bryson Tiller's album, including the standout track “CALYPSO,” further cementing his reputation as a multifaceted creator. In the years since, Che Ecru released a series of standout projects that showcased his evolving sound and emotional depth. He began with Still Single, PREJECTION, and Til Death (Deluxe) in 2020, followed by the introspective Pain Pack 5  and the darker-toned Cold Toronto in 2022. The momentum carried into I CANT FOCUS (2023), On my way! & Love Life (2025), each project expanding his sonic palette while staying rooted in emotional honesty. Che Ecru continues to carve his own path, staying independent and doing everything his way.
