Casscade

Casscade is a rapper, songwriter and visual creative from North West London’s Stonebridge. He channels influences from Kanye to Drake to Skepta to produce melodic, global looking Rap/Trap, bolstered by a vibrant, storytelling lyrical approach. With parents of Caribbean descent, Casscade grew up around sound-system culture, which meant that from an early age he was developing a musical education from the music he heard, which included dancehall, rare groove, soul,reggae, RnB and garage. It was when he found hip hop and rap culture in his pre-teens (through icons such as 50 Cent and Dizzee Rascal), when he decided to make his own music rather than following his parent’s footsteps in becoming a DJ. Those early influences soon grew to Kanye, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne and Drake, with other creative elements from art, soundtracks and sci fi also began to shape Casscade’s musical aspirations. In 2018 he dropped the widely supported ‘Ignorance Is Bliss’ EP, with tracks from the EP picking up airplay at BBC 1Xtra from Charlie Sloth, DJ Target, Annie Nightingale and DJ Melody Kane. The party jam ‘Sexy' was championed by media such as Highsnobiety, GRM Daily, Linkup TV and also charted on Submit-Hub's Urban chart. Whilst other early tastemaker support came from 4x Grammy winning producer Anthony Kilhoffer, who played ‘Finesse’ on his Instagram live with DJ Semtex. this led to ‘Finesse’ being featured on Semtex’s ‘5 Tracks You Need To Know’ show on Capital Xtra.
