Biography & Metadata
Known as “one of the most interesting musicians on the local scene,” Lucio Balduini is an Argentine guitarist and composer. While his music is rooted in the jazz tradition, it also reflects his interest in and influences from folklore, tango, and Argentine rock. His compositions transcend sonic boundaries, emphasizing the beauty of melodic phrases and improvisational language. Lucio’s vision of music is based on continuous innovation, making him one of the most creative voices of his generation. As a leader, Lucio debuted in 2006 with Lucecita, and a few years later, he released Viento Divino, which showcased both his talent as an improviser and his versatile compositional style. In 2017, El Bosque Brillante laid the foundation of Lucio’s aesthetic vision, combining intricate solo sections with delicate melodies. In 2021, Lucio released Para Ir as a rendition of Luis Alberto Spinetta’s legacy, in which he explores with 8-original arrangements the simplicity and depth of acoustic guitar possibilities. Lucio’s latest release, En el Fondo del Mar, challenges the canon of Argentine jazz once again while showcasing his distinct musical taste. This last release features his long-time collaborators, Mariano Sivori and Pipi Piazzolla Trio.
