Every song begins as a poem. The poem decides the genre, the tempo, the instrumentation — Folk and Celtic for ancestral wisdom, piano rock for philosophical awakening, Cohen-esque balladry for shadow work, soul and R&B for intimate transformation, Afro-fusion for collective joy. That is The Hollins Method: content chooses the music, not the other way around. His Breakfast with Jung project takes Carl Jung's depth psychology and makes it something you can feel rather than study. Forty-nine of the 135 poems have been released as singles so far. One question underneath all of them: what’s underneath? He has been running Living Theatre since 2000 — first in Auckland, now weekly on Waiheke — helping performers explore, create and develop their own creative expression.
