MERCEE grew up in Zurich as the daughter of a Cuban-Italian family. At home, salsa was always playing loud — the music people danced to. As a teenager, everything else came in: Aaliyah, Amy Winehouse, Rihanna, and plenty of rap, from Young Thug to XXXTentacion. She never chose between them. She kept them all. At twelve, she sang Alicia Keys’ “New York” at a school performance. It was her first time on stage, and her first experience of what a voice can do to a room. She hasn’t stopped since. In 2020, SRF 3 named her a Best Talent, while the Montreux Jazz Festival selected her as an Artist to Watch. Soon after, her music started receiving radio play in Switzerland, Germany and the UK. This was followed by the release of her EP “Venganza” and performances at numerous festivals. Today, MERCEE is right where something new is taking shape: within a young European scene that brings tradition and experimentation together without hesitation. For her next chapter, MERCEE moved to Madrid, stepping into a completely new environment and working on new material — darker, more mature and more self-assured than anything before.
