Dan Johns

Dan Johns is an independent hip hop artist whose music bridges the gap between experience and expression. With a career spanning over two decades, Dan has remained grounded in authenticity, crafting music for listeners who value substance over spectacle. Hailing from South Carolina, Dan brings a distinctly Southern soul to classic boom bap aesthetics, blending raw lyricism with blues, gospel, and soul influences. His projects—like the reflective Ascent of the Imperium, the gritty and soulful Voice of the Collective, and the recently released Resurgence—each serve as chapters in a larger story: one man’s evolving relationship with hip hop, purpose, and self. Throughout his journey, Dan has consistently stayed true to the culture. Whether delivering hard-earned wisdom, sharp social commentary, or introspective bars, his voice resonates with those who see hip hop as more than just entertainment—it’s a way of life. Dan doesn't chase trends. He honors craft. His music is for those who’ve grown with hip hop and still recognize its roots. Unfiltered, unapologetic, and undeniably skilled, Dan Johns is proof that independent doesn’t mean alone—it means free.
