Boydex

Boydex is Melbourne producer Matt Boyd, bringing old school funk and soul into new school bass territory. Bluesy hooks, hip hop swagger and basslines with some serious bite. Music with soul that still knows how to throw its weight around. Fresh off a massive main stage set at Mushroom Valley, with Tanglewood, Raindance and Archaic Gathering among his festival appearances around the country, he’s been giving those studio experiments a proper workout. Then there’s Boydex & Friends. Jake on guitar, Johnny on sax and Matt behind the decks. Their chemistry comes through in the live jams, the energy and the grins across the stage. Plenty of funk and bass, and a good chance they’re having as much fun as the crowd. With releases on Junkfood, Bombstrikes, Diesel Recordings and Grand Alliance, plus collaborations with artists like Marvel Years, including a feature on Marvel Years’ latest album, there’s plenty happening between festival sets. With fresh independent releases rolling out and an album in the works, he’s only getting warmed up.
