Puppi

Federico Puppi is an Italian-born, Brazil-based composer, cellist, musical director and performer. His music moves between contemporary classical, cinematic soundscapes, theatre, improvisation and experimental song forms. Born in the Aosta Valley and based in Brazil since 2012, Puppi has developed a language centered on the cello as both instrument and voice: layered, physical, lyrical and often cinematic. His albums O Canto da Madeira, Marinheiro de Terra Firme and Crisálide explore migration, memory, silence and transformation. With Crisálide, he refined a universe of overlapping cellos and intimate acoustic textures, reaching editorial playlists and licensing placements. Alongside his solo work, Puppi is one of the distinctive musical voices in Brazilian theatre, composing and directing music for major productions including Ficções, starring Vera Holtz, in which he also performs on stage. His work has earned APTR awards for Best Original Music. He has collaborated with artists such as Maria Gadú, Milton Nascimento, Marco Lobo, Sérgio Mendes, Mariana Aydar, Mestrinho, Chico Chico and Elba Ramalho, with credits connected to Grammy and Latin Grammy nominated and awarded projects
