Shay Lia

Shay Lia is a French-born, Djiboutian-raised singer-songwriter. A nomadic groover, channeling a life across cultures into music rooted in warmth, rhythm and connection. She has captivated the world for her passion for movement and groove in 2013 in the infamous Kaytranada Boiler Room. She started writing to his music after moving to Canada the same year, from which came “Leave me alone” and “Chances” and has since then extended her sound through soul, R&B and electronic music. She creates sophisticated, emotionally charged work shaped by her multicultural perspective and collaborations with artists including KAYTRANADA , Busy P, Kah-Lo , GuiltyBeatz , Adekunle Gold , Karriem Riggins , Kojey Radical , Buddy etc. Her debut project Dangerous earned a Polaris Prize nomination, topped the iTunes Canada chart and saw “Good Together” selected for Michelle Obama’s Spotify playlist. Her follow-up EP Solaris earned a Juno nomination, while her album FACETS was nominated for Contemporary R&B Recording of the Year at the 2024 Juno Awards. She is also a recipient of SOCAN’s Breakthrough Artist Award. After headlining tours across North America and Europe, Shay Lia relocated to Los Angeles, where she continues to expand her artistic universe through music, movement and visual storytelling. She’s now back with the anthemic “So Good” reunited with her long time collaborator @KAYTRANADA that she describes as a “full circle moment”.
