Sotela

Sotela is a Costa Rican artist, producer and composer whose music lives somewhere between the dance floor and the last drive home. Emerging from a long career in electronic music and DJ culture, Sotela has spent years shaping a sound rooted in synthesizers, atmosphere and emotion. His earlier work explored progressive and underground electronic music, while his current chapter moves into a more cinematic world of new wave, synth-pop, post-punk and electronic music. Inspired by the timeless songwriting and production of Depeche Mode, Prince, Michael Jackson and the music of the 1980s, Sotela combines analog-inspired synths, driving basslines, guitars and electronic production with songs centered on desire, obsession, nostalgia, loneliness and the complicated spaces between people. That evolution comes into focus through releases including Pillow, Daydream, Try and Everywhere to Me, leading into the world of Neon Dreaming — a nocturnal record shaped by neon lights, empty streets, broken relationships and memories that refuse to disappear.
