Biography & Metadata
Hayley Wallis’s voice commands attention: rich, textured, and effortlessly confident. Her performances carry emotional weight and clarity, moving listeners as much by her tone as by her story. Originally from Klemtu — a remote island in the Great Bear Rainforest — Hayley is deeply rooted in her Indigenous identity while embracing expansive musical horizons. In 2022, she released her debut album Halulu, a project that became both a personal and professional pivot point. The release marked her formal entry into the music industry and catalyzed her growth as an independent artist. Through Halulu, she has honed every facet of her craft: writing, recording, performing, visual storytelling, promotion, and the business of music. Since then, Hayley’s momentum has accelerated. Her singles have climbed to #1 on NCI’s Indigenous Music Countdown, she’s been featured on SiriusXM’s Indigiverse and Poplandia, and added to Spotify’s “Indigenous” editorial playlist. Halulu was named among 2023’s Top Indigenous Albums by Stingray, and she was selected as a CBC Searchlight 2023 finalist. In 2024–2025, Hayley appeared on CBC’s Road to the Junos concert series in Vancouver, a high-visibility platform for emerging Canadian artists. Her live track record is extensive and versatile: over 80 performances across BC and beyond since 2021, festivals include Vancouver Folk Festival, Toronto and Victoria Jazz Festivals, the International Indigenous Music Summit and more.
