Ari Herstand

“A commanding performer and a world-class songwriter” - American Songwriter Magazine After spending over a decade on the road playing 1,000+ shows in venues ranging from living rooms to arenas, moving from Minneapolis to LA, dabbling in acting (see him one on one with Don Draper in Mad Men), and doing it all without the support of a label, manager or booking agent, Ari Herstand decided to support the indie music community he grew up in and share everything he learned. Started in 2012 as a blog, Ari's Take has now become the go-to resource for independent musicians on how to run a successful music career in the new music business. He is also the author of the best-selling book, How To Make It in the New Music Business and runs the Webby winning New Music Business podcast. His newest musical offering "Change the Course" takes inspiration from soulful witnesses of change like Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Allen Stone and Bill Withers. Herstand wrote this song to encourage humanity and compassion seeing his neighbors getting disappeared off the streets of LA. Recorded in one-take at 64 Sound studio in Highland Park, CA , the song is raw and organic, with each of the 7 musicians contributing their unique perspective. Herstand also fronts the original 70s inspired funk project Brassroots District putting on immersive concert experiences around LA.
