Biography & Metadata

Giota Nega is a Greek singer born and raised in Athens, where she discovered her artistic identity at an early age. Music was part of her life from the very beginning, shaped by a father who played music as an amateur and a mother who brought every family gathering to life with her voice and spirit. With these early influences as her foundation, she began singing on the city’s rebetiko music scene as a self-taught artist, before graduating with distinction from the National Conservatory of Greece. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with some of Greece’s most celebrated composers and songwriters, including P. Kalantzopoulos, S. Kraounakis, Th. Karamouratidis, N. Moraitis and D. Papadimitriou. Her artistic journey has taken her to some of the country’s most iconic stages, including the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus and the Greek National Opera. More recently, she ventured into the world of theatre, appearing as the Leader of the Chorus in Euripides’ Medea, directed by Aimilios Cheilakis and Manos Dounias. With a voice that carries stories, emotions and the soul of Greek song, Giota Nega continues to create moments of connection wherever she performs, travelling the world one song at a time.
