While his love of jazz continued to grow, he also began to appreciate Hip-Hop, Funk and Soul through the influence of early bandmembers. Having played the guitar for several years, the younger Tobi picked up the trumpet at the age of 12, taking everlasting inspiration from Miles Davis , Chet Baker and Tomasz Stańko . Shortly after he taught himself piano and bass. While attending Hochschule für Musik Mainz as jazz trumpeter and pianist, the music program which also brought out victor fox, Grégoire Pignède , halfpastseven , Eddy Sonnenschein and which is led by Chaka Khan MD Jesse Milliner, Tobi got his trumpet sound perfected with his prof Axel Schlosser. Tobi shortly after moved to Cologne with its vivid music and music production scene, where he started to closely collaborate with Jost Esser and John Da Lemon
