Biography & Metadata

Padma Shri Anup Jalota, fondly known as the Bhajan Samrat, is one of India’s most iconic voices in devotional music. With a career spanning over five decades, he has transformed the way the world listens to bhajans and ghazals. From the soulful Aisi Lagi Lagan, Jag Mein Sundar Hai Do Naam and Rang De Chunariya to countless other timeless renditions, his voice has become the sound of faith, love, and spiritual devotion for millions. A legendary performer with more than 5,000 live concerts worldwide, Anup Jalota has carried the essence of Indian spirituality to audiences across continents. Honored with the Padma Shri, he remains a cultural icon—an artist whose music is both a prayer and a celebration. Today, he leads Mission 500, an ambitious movement to launch 500 Sanatan singers and bring a new generation of devotional artists to the global stage. The first release from this mission is Mere Krishna. Supporting him in this historic initiative are acclaimed film directors Ajay Jain, Sanjukta Jain, and Draksha Sharma, who manage the mission, its music videos, and artist collaborations. Anup Jalota’s vision goes beyond music—it is a living legacy of bhakti, culture, and Sanatan heritage for generations to come
