Biography & Metadata
Franky Fugazi is a British songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and three-string cigar box guitar player from Golborne, Greater Manchester, now based in the Netherlands. Blending blues, garage rock, Americana and stripped-back roots music, his songs favour character, atmosphere and rough edges over polished convention. At the centre of the sound is the cigar box guitar. What began as a fascination with a primitive three-string instrument became the defining voice of the project: slide guitar, distorted grooves, battered rhythms and songs populated by outsiders, strange characters and darker corners of life. In 2026, Fugazi released the 12-track album Navigating the Madness, recorded with longtime collaborator and producer Buddy Fly. Moving between dirty cigar-box blues, garage rock, Americana and quieter, more reflective material, the album has since picked up growing independent-radio support and recognition from established music publications. Reviewing the album for Blues Matters, Andy Hughes wrote that “Franky Fugazi has a bright future hammering out gems.” The Big Takeover echoed that sentiment, describing the record as the answer for listeners who feel blues has become too safe: “If you think blues has got too safe, this is the antidote.” Franky Fugazi isn’t built around polish or fashion. It’s built around songs, instinct, a three-string guitar and the belief that a little damage usually makes things more interesting.
