Biography & Metadata

Lissie's first body-of-work since 2022’s acclaimed Carving Canyons album, her new EP "Promises" (out Aug. 22), compiles a collection of cover songs that speak her current emotional language and hold meaning to her life. The Promises EP features songs which offer varying slants on the theme of a commitment, from Lissie's take on The Pretenders’ classic “I’ll Stand By You", which she sang to her husband at their wedding reception, to Alphaville‘s “Forever Young”, The Bangles’ "Eternal Flame’", Fleetwood Mac’s "Everywhere", Simon & Garfunkel’s "America’ and Low’s "Just Make It Stop". Lissie’s 2010 debut album "Catching A Tiger" made an instant impact, inspiring comparisons to Stevie Nicks, Hope Sandoval and Bobbie Gentry. The BBC even commented, “She sounds like one of the greatest female vocalists of a generation, arguably without even really trying.” Subsequently certified Gold, the debut was followed by 4 records which all impacted the UK charts, including the Top 10 "Castles". Her 2022 album "Carving Canyons" earned acclaim spanning Forbes, FLOOD, NPR, American Songwriter, No Depression and more. Outside of her records, Lissie made a show-stealing performance of “Wild West” in David Lynch’s Twin Peaks: The Return, and played a musician enduring an awkward relationship with Ron Livingstone’s music critic lead character in the third season of the cult comedy-drama Loudermilk. She lives in north-east Iowa, where she manages and conserves the 45-acre site around her home.
