Biography & Metadata

This project was developed back in 2011 by Ian Avina and Kaleo James in Austin, TX with just five songs and determination. While Ian (ex-Of Hearts And Shadows, ex-Set Aflame, ex-Dead Like You, ex-Wolfwaker) and Kaleo (ex-At The Skylines, ex-Of Ares, ex-Autumn Black, Jackson County) joined other bands, this was always in the back of their minds. With Kaleo moving from Austin in that search, Ian formed a live version of “heroinme”. With the writing and cultivation of new tunes, came the beginnings of the current band concept. With the idea set in place, Ian ran with it. As two members (Richie Wicander - Guitarist, and Chris Mardis - Vocalist) started playing Drums and Vocals, respectively, for Fire From The Gods, Ian headed home to San Diego, California. After having little luck with finding new members, Ian decided to record/mix/master the first single himself in his home studio, Til Death Studios in Southern California, from now named, HERO IN ME. With getting married and also being discouraged with the music industry, Ian put his focus on podcasting and married life. After years of having the HERO IN ME concept brewing in the background, Kaleo came back into the fold. Kaleo then loaded up his car and drove 3,000 miles to get this record done. To say that there has been blood, sweat, tears, passion, heart-ache, and frustration put into this project, would be a gross understatement. With new life breathed into this project, there is no stopping this machine now…
