Biography & Metadata

South London rapper, Yungen has taken the tumultuous route to radio ubiquity, his backstory a list of rough breaks and hard lessons. Sure, the long-term rewards have been headline-making: a MOBO best newcomer nomination for his breakout, self-released double album, Project Black & Red in 2014; collabs with the likes of Krept & Konan, Stormzy and Wretch 32, plus a clutch of smash singles in the shape of 2017’s Top 10 Platinum selling, ‘Bestie’ boasting over 70million streams. 2018 saw Yungen collab with British pop royalty on ‘Mind On It’ featuring Jess Glynne & his childhood idol Craig David on ‘Intimate’, whilst also preforming alongside at Capital’s Jingle Bell Ball at The O2 Arena. 2019 saw the release of his latest mixtape ‘Project Purple’ – which achieved another Top 40 single in ‘Comfortable’. Continuing on from his musical success, 2019 brought massive brand collaborations. The first with iconic lifestyle brand ‘Timberland’ where they partnered to create a bespoke content piece at London’s Barbican to launch a retro-inspired Brooklyn trainer. In addition, Yungen partnered with his lifelong football club, Liverpool FC & New Balance to be the face of the New Balance Training Kit alongside LFC star Sadio Mane. Being a huge football fan, 2019 & 2020 saw Yungen make various TV appearances on shows such as Sky Sports ‘Saturday Social’ ‘Kings of the Premier League’ as well as BBC’s ‘MOTDX’ & BBC Sport.
