Kaiak

Deep in the forests of the Swedish countryside, Kaiak makes music that’s equal parts jazz club, soft rock and indie nerds. The project is a collaborative duo comprised of vocalist and songwriter Emil Gullhamn and pianist, composer, producer and vocalist Marcos Ubeda. Born from the meeting of two different musical worlds—Gullhamn’s background in melodic rock and Ubeda’s roots in jazz—Kaiak blends pop songwriting with rich harmonies and musical depth. Since launching the project eight years ago, the duo has released around 150 songs and generated more than 90 million streams worldwide. Alongside their original music, Kaiak has also gained attention for distinctive reinterpretations of well-known pop songs. Working entirely independently, Kaiak writes, produces and records their music themselves. Their songs have appeared in shows such as Love Island UK and American Idol, and their version of Can’t Get You Out of My Head was featured on the podcast This American Life.
