Andreas Brantelid

Andreas Brantelid was born in Copenhagen in 1987 to Swedish/Danish parents. After receiving early tuition from his father Ingemar, Andreas made his soloist debut at the age of 14 performing Elgar concerto with the Royal Danish Orchestra. Today, Andreas is one of the most sought-after performing artists from Scandinavia, winning worldwide critical acclaim for his thought-provoking interpretations, uniquely colorful sound and engaging personality. Highlights of orchestra engagements includes appearances with a.o. BBC Symphony and Philharmonic Orchestras, Yomiyuri Nippon Symphony, Seattle Symphony, Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre des Champs-Elysées, as well as all the major orchestras. He has worked with many distinguished conductors as Esa-Pekka Salonen, Philippe Herreweghe, Vasily Petrenko, Thomas Dausgaard, Sakari Oramo, Jukka-Pekka Saraste, and Heinrich Schiff. His debut disc with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra was released by EMI in 2008, followed by a disc of chamber music by Chopin (2010), and an Encore disc (2012). A recording of works for cello and piano by Grieg was released by BIS in 2015, followed by Fauré’s works for cello and piano in 2017. In September 2020 he released his first album at Naxos which was followed by album releases in 2021 (Cello Concertos by Haydn and C.P.E Bach) and in 2022 with the album '48 Strings - Music for 1, 2, 4 and 12 cellos'. Andreas Brantelid lives with his wife and four daughters in Nærum near Copenhagen.
