Native James is a genre-bending artist hailing from Ipswich, combining grime, rap, punk, rock, and metal. His unique sound is instantly recognisable, and perfectly complements his lyrical prowess. Native has quickly become one to watch on the live scene, gathering an ever-growing rabid fanbase. Building a community and uniting people is something incredibly significant for Native, and a key element of his live show. He has carved a unique space with a UK grime metal crossover, captivating audiences at some of the most iconic festivals and live music events in UK and Europe such as the legendary Glastonbury, Download, Reading and Leeds, Paaspop, Pohoda, 2000 Trees, and Latitude Festivals. Plus he has been invited to share the stage as special guest for the likes of Skindred, Enter Shikari, Don Broco, Nova Twins, Letlive, Hyphen, and Bob Vylan. Native James has released brand new music via his new label home SharpTone Records. His galvanizing single Never Been Scared packs a punch straight out the gate, and features grime legend Frisco who is best known for being a member of collective Boy Better Know. He continues to make waves representing Black culture using rap and metal infusion, to be inclusive of all and advocate for system-change with his storytelling lyrics. From instinct to identity, we are all Native.
