Biography & Metadata

Claudio Rubio is a saxophonist, composer, arranger and educator. Trained in the jazz program at William Paterson University (USA), he graduated Suma Cum Laude. Throughout the years at Patterson he had the opportunity to study from jazz figures such as Rich Perry, Sal Mosca, Dave Liebman, Clark Terry, Jim McNeely, Rich De Rosa, Mulgrew Miller, Kevin Mahogany, Wynton Marsalis and Kenny Garrett among others. In Chile he has positioned himself as a referent of the jazz scene, collaborating in such projects as Ensamble Quintessence, winner of the Pulsar Award for best jazz album of the year (Anonymous), Cristián Galvez Quinteto Eléctrico, Francesca Ancarola, Nicolás Vera Quinteto, Felipe Riveros, Gabriel Reyes Quinteto, Camila Meza, Pedro Piedra, Carmen Kuki Paz Quartet, Sebastián Prado. His own discography includes: Claudio Rubio Quartet Tristano! and Claudio Rubio Quintet with the album Hijo Son nominated for the Pulsar award as the best jazz album of the year 2018. A fundamental album in Claudio Rubio's career is Música Para Ascensores, as here he once again uses the quintet formation to give the listener a sense of his inner world in an experimental and emotional journey through sound and timbral obsessions that characterize his music.
