Biography & Metadata

El Kamel is one of the pioneering artists and influential pillars of Cuba’s Reparto movement. Since breaking onto the music scene in 2016, he has built a career as an artist, songwriter, and producer, becoming an important figure in the evolution of Cuban urban music. Born in Jesús María, Havana, Cuba, one of the city’s most humble neighborhoods, El Kamel emerged from the streets with a distinctive sound, explosive energy, and a connection to Cuban culture. His music has helped shape the sound of a generation, while his creative vision has contributed to the development of Reparto and its growing influence beyond Cuba. Throughout his career, El Kamel has worked with and contributed to numerous major names in Cuban music, including Gente de Zona, Yomil y El Dany, El Chulo, El Micha, Chocolate MC, and El Chacal. Beyond performing, he has also established himself as a songwriter and producer, helping create music that has influenced the direction of the genre. Today, Reparto has become one of the recognizable sounds of contemporary Cuban urban music, with a new generation of artists such as Bebeshito, Yaisel Dilan, Wow Popy, Dany Ome, and Kevincito El 13 carrying the movement to wider audiences. El Kamel is a versatile artist whose strongest identity remains rooted in Reparto. His journey from Jesús María to becoming a recognized voice in Cuban urban music reflects the evolution of a movement that continues to cross borders.
